Matthew Spaur

Matthew Spaur is the author of “Making a Small Fortune,” a memoir set in Spokane that chronicles his caring for family members battling seizures, addiction, and the rare disease porphyria. For more than 20 years, he has published fiction, nonfiction, and journalism. Spaur’s work has appeared in South Dakota Review, Owen Wister Review, Wisconsin Review, Willow Springs, Into the Ruins, and Heliotrope, and in the anthologies Microsoft in the Mirror and Secrets. He was the publisher of The Local Planet Weekly, an award-winning weekly newspaper in Spokane. Spaur and his teams have earned awards and nominations from the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Society for Technical Communications, and the Associated Writing Programs.
