Dr. Krista DeBehnke Attana is a poet, playwright, and educator from Wisconsin. She received a B.A. in English and Film Studies from UW-Milwaukee in 2012, an MFA in poetry from Eastern Washington University in 2014, and a Ph.D in English (Drama and Folklore) from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2018. Her first chapbook of poetry, Like Thunder, Like Daughter, was published by Dancing Girl Press in 2021. Other poetry and drama works have appeared in Masque & Spectacle, Saranac Review, Aperion Review, and Bateau Ivre, among others. Her first stage production, On the Way to Harlem, was produced by Paine College for their 21st Evelyn G. Etheridge Conference on the Harlem Renaissance. She currently resides in Aiken, South Carolina with her partner and two yellow labradors.
