We are overjoyed to be celebrating our 25th anniversary with an evening of poetry featuring the current
US Poet Laureate Ada Limón! Ada has said that her job as Poet Laureate is to “elevate, celebrate, and speak to poetry’s role—the power of this art form and what it has the potential to do.” At this special headlining event, Ada will be joined by
Laura Read and
Gabrielle Bates. Beloved Spokane poet Laura Read is the author of four award-winning collections, most recently
But She Is Also Jane winner of the Juniper Prize for Poetry. Laura is a former Spokane Poet Laureate who teaches at both SFCC and EWU. Gabrielle Bates, whose debut poetry collection
Judas Goat was just published with Tin House, has been playing a major role in the poetry scene in Seattle through her work with
Seattle Review,
Poetry Northwest, Open Books, Seattle's Writers in the Schools, and her podcast
The Poet Salon. All three poets will be reading from their latest collections, and following the readings Gabrielle will lead a conversation on poetry and its power to connect us all. It is incredibly special for us to present these three writers on stage together to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and we hope you’ll join us!
