Help us close out our 25th anniversary festival with some of our favorite Spokane writers Jess Walter, Leyna Krow, and Sharma Shields! Jess and Leyna will both be reading from their most recent books—Leyna’s historical novel Fire Season, which Jess Walter described as “devilishly funny and endlessly inventive” follows three scheming opportunists as their paths collide following a devastating fire in 1880’s Spokane. Over the years, Jess Walter has chosen Spokane for the backdrop of many of his short stories along with his historical novel The Cold Millions which is set not long after Leyna’s novel, in early 1900’s Spokane. Both writers use wry humor, memorable characters, and high emotional stakes to create beautiful stories set in Spokane and beyond. Following their readings, they will be in conversation with best-selling Spokane writer Sharma Shields. We would like to thank Spokane Public Library for their partnership on this event.

This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.

Surveys help our program obtain critical grant funding. Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete our survey after you've attended any of our events! If you enjoyed your experience and want to donate to our program, please use this link!
