Help us close out our 25th anniversary festival with some of our favorite Spokane writers
Jess Walter, Leyna Krow, and
Sharma Shields! Jess and Leyna will both be reading from their most recent books—Leyna’s historical novel
Fire Season, which Jess Walter described as “devilishly funny and endlessly inventive” follows three scheming opportunists as their paths collide following a devastating fire in 1880’s Spokane. Over the years, Jess Walter has chosen Spokane for the backdrop of many of his short stories along with his historical novel
The Cold Millions which is set not long after Leyna’s novel, in early 1900’s Spokane. Both writers use wry humor, memorable characters, and high emotional stakes to create beautiful stories set in Spokane and beyond. Following their readings, they will be in conversation with best-selling Spokane writer Sharma Shields.
